I kinda love that Dodge is fucking over speculators by building this. Just dilute the brand into oblivion and let people actually enjoy the cars, it’s actually pretty brilliant in a backwards kinda way.

They sell the shit out of them, why not...

It’s not good for brand equity, in my opinion. Of course I own a demon so I might be biased. And now Scat Packs get Hellcat hood.

I don’t remember Ferrari limiting production of the F40. That hardly hurt i ts desirability.

At least they’re updating it. The Crown Vic had 200-240hp over 2 decades.

Does Dodge really have any actual brand equity left? The Ram is now its own brand, they killed the Viper (again), and now basically just sell really fast dinosaurs that can come with “Hell-” or “Demon” in their names.

As long as people keep buying them. I do wish they’d build a smaller lighter replacement that could go toe-to-toe with the Mustang and Camaro, but they do fill a niche. When the Hellcat was announced I thought it’d be a rare sighting, but I see them more often than V6s, so I’m sure Dodge is laughing all the way to the bank.
Hell, if they leave it alone it’ll basically become their G-wagon. Update the interior every 4 years and watch the fanboys eat them up, while the tooling paid itself off in 2010.

I mean, this is typical Dodge. They did this to the old SRT8 with the Superbee. T here’s never been any brand equity with the modern Mopar, and while that may be disappointing to some owners, it’s somewhat democratizing to their fan base.
I mean, who else but Dodge can take 4 engines and 5 hoods and make 82 trim levels with stickers?

I guess. but even the G-wagon had the platform updated to IFS

They are basically taking a page out of the Mustang’s
playbook.

As an enthusiast I’d love to see a new platform, but at the same time I really enjoy this one .

The challenger has too many trim levels. There I said it. Shit can the R/T and leave the 392 variants.

I think the “392” trim is actually going away. At least I haven’t seen much about it.

Some People think my explanation means I don’t want to see a new platform. I’d love to see this drivetrain (or just a 6.4 with a 6spd) in a smaller Alfa platform.

They keep increasing sales numbers. People dig Dinos. They sell a TON of V6 cars too.

Same, I’m not against that move at all, I’d especially love to see a Challenger T/A that could go toe-to-toe with a GT350 around a road course . But I also can’t fault Dodge for milking the cash cow with minor changes.

But all those variants allow Challenger owners to say “this is only 1/478 blue 2016 Challenger R/T Pluses with the optional shaker hood, 8-speed auto, spoiler, and engine block heater”

Its incorporated into the scat pack. I'm mostly concerned with the engine vs the trim. I feel bad for anyone who buys a standard rt these days.

I’m thinking mid 90s to mid 00s Mustang. Bulli t, California Special, GT, Cobra, GTS. Cobra R, V6, the convertible that every cool girl in high school drove, Mach 1, 35th (mustang) anniversary edition, 100th (ford) anniversary edition, V6 Pony, Standard, Premium, Deluxe, Hertz, Shaker, so on, and so forth.

I loved my ‘15 R/T SPS. Drove a base model cross country too, it’s what made me want mine. Not sure what you’re referring to.
